A NEW BEGINNING...

I am back...as a married guy...things back home worked out great and married life seems peaceful ;)...but not before some drama that erupted even before i landed in India..

I was to leave Cleveland on the 24th of August and the marriage was on the 28th...Everything seemed pretty nice until late 24th afternoon, my plane to New Jersey took off some 2 hours after the scheduled time...so what happens..I miss my flight to India...Yes, you saw that right..i was so tense and disheartened and i had some trouble with my cell phone so i told a friend to call home and let my parents know i am still in the US..My friend couldnt connect to my home number and i ended up calling my dad SOMEHOW...my dad couldnt believe it was me and he was shocked as hell when he came to know i was stranded...I told him to convey the news to my in-laws house and they didnt know what to do..the worst part was this..26th was Kirti's b'day and i so badly wanted to be with her that day..But, things werent meant to be that way for us..It was like the movie THE TERMINAL (Tom Hanks) for me..Although i havent seen the movie i sure felt miserable..I had 24 hours on my hands till i could board a plane Home..Time passed as slow as possible...and i ended up checking in a hotel at 3:30 am..It was relief abound when i landed in Mumbai on the night of 26th and was extremely thrilled to see my parents, my brother and sis-in-law waiting for me...

I had a great time in India and everything compensated for that one night in Newark...One thing, I didnt feel as upset or lonely as i was when i left India last January becoz i didnt have a secure future..But now, things are surely looking bright as my wife will be following me mid-october and my parents are expected here mid-february..

It sure seems like a new beginning and to be truthful, this is the first time in 3 years, I am really enjoying my life in the United States..

For those interested, here are some of the photos from the India trip..

Sleaze Pleaze..

There's a song by Jay-Z which goes by the title "Can I get to F@#$ You.." which i am sure many of you would have heard. Looking back at the things going on in India, one feels that this song aptly fits the happenings there.

Firstly, there was the MMS scandal which "rocked" the entire billion people country. Whats sad about that was, such kinda things happens in every city everyday, but unfortunately, it came out of the Nation's capital with 2 11 standard students caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not too long ago, there was this incident which caught the nation's attention. Few of the President's bodyguards were accused of raping some Swiss people.

Last week, few females in the military were accusing top generals of soliciting sex. There was a scandal in Gurgaon with a female socialite and a Call-centre employee CAUGHT ON TAPE. Currently, doing the rounds are the "Casting Couch" craze which i think has made Shakti Kapoor and Aman Verma absolute scapegoats. Again from the film industry, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor were caught on tape smooching in a Mumbai Pub.

The point of all these things is what....2 Minutes of Fame, getting revenge (as in the MMS case) or in some cases absolute pleasure.

If you notice, all these news died down a silent death as the Media caught onto something else which was more Masale-dhar than the current Hot Topic.

Shobha De in her column for TOI put in a statement which made so much sense. As entertainment, it's tops. As journalism, it sucks..

End of the day, only one thing come to mind..

So after almost 9 months of working as a temporary employee, my luck eventually helped me get a permanent postition at my company as a Quality Engineer. Not the best job in the world but i am not complaining as i am glad my employer is ready to give me the ever-eluding H1B visa.

Got the news on Thursday March 3rd..More relieved than happy frankly. was waiting for this day eagerly for a long time..Good to see my association with Akron will continue for a bit more time..

Folks back home were extremely pleased. Cant wait to get back home this summer..Been a long hard year for me the past one and this one (the 3 months that has whizzed past all of us..)..cant believe its already Mid-March...Seems only like yesterday when i was chatting with my parents and Kirti on new years eve..

Lot of things have changed around me. But i am glad i have accepted the change and "hung-in-there" for my chance to smile..been thro a torrid time during the past months with possible employers just turning away at the last second citing some reason or the other..But as luck would have it, I am still here fighting another day..

List of favorite singers (Hindi and Western)..

Kishore Kumar (I think he is in everyone's favorite list)
Udit Narayan
Shankar Mahadevan
Alka Yagnik
Kavita Krishnamurthy
SP Balasubramaniam
A.R Rahman (Yes, the music genius)
Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam)

If anyone listens to Stone Temple Pilots (STP), the lead singer of that band, Scot Weiland, has an amazing voice. and is currently added to the list of favorite singers. Biggest drug addict in the world and arrested on countless occasions. present lead singer of Velvet Revolver, one of the nastiest rock bands around. All said and done, he still has one of the best voices i have heard.

Saw "The Incredibles" and it sure is one of the best movies in recent months. Incredibly made..

Current list of music that i have been listening to..

The Who (Baba O'Riley)
ACDC
Thin Lizzy
Led Zeppelin
and of course, Stone Temple Pilots

Good Ol' rock days are back..

This has been the longest sabbatical that i have taken from blogging..but as usual i am back to share some of the things that i have done in the near 3 months since the last blog..

--Gave 2 telephone interviews. Another one waiting in the pipeline..
--Moved from 425 Sumner St to 323 Sterling Ct..
--Got the internet set-up FINALLY after ages..
--Celebrated my first new year in Akron for the first time in 2.5 years..
--Got transferred from one department in the company to another. This is my second transfer in 4 months..
--Started developing a keen interest in Football..My favorite team, New England PATRIOTS are in the Superbowl for the third time in 4 yours..
--Finally picking up points in the Fantasy Basketball Games..
--Went to Pittsburgh temple in my car for the first time as a customary Darshan for anything big..
--Seen Suneel write so many blogs in so less time..
--Saw the movie THE GRUDGE and got scared in no time..that one is scarier than most horror movies. Japanese directors who make horror movies are living upto the reputation of making the scariest movies of all..

And apart from the things mentioned above, Life pretty much sucked..
